Bass House – located in Halifax

When you have multiple merchants, you have more variety. That’s exactly what Bass House offers. This shop in historic Halifax operates out of a farmhouse built in 1913. The six dealers within Bass House offer a variety of vintage and antique wares, with new products arriving every week. You can find smaller, functional items here such as kitchenware and tools, as well as a great selection of gifts.

Southern Secrets at Mears – located in Enfield

If you’re looking for custom-made furniture, art, or baby gifts, this Enfield shop carries unique pieces made by local artists. Handmade bowls or jewelry make great gifts and souvenirs, but the main reason to shop here is the local artwork. Looking for statement pieces for your home? This is also a great place to find home decor, rugs, and window treatments. 

Riverside Mill – located in Weldon

This former cotton mill houses a half-acre antique mall, craft gallery, and outlet shops. You could easily spend several hours here shopping for home furnishings, rugs, women’s clothing and accessories, and one-of-a-kind collectibles. There is also a Christmas outlet for those of you who can’t get enough holiday cheer. The craft gallery features a variety of fine arts and unique crafts with an emphasis on local artisans.

Need to refresh your wardrobe? This downtown Roanoke Rapids boutique is a local favorite, and it’s been around since 1904. You’ll find a variety of colorful, on-trend women’s clothing appropriate for all ages, as well as jewelry and accessories. Not only will you get quality merchandise, but the service is also top-notch.

Main Street Wines -located in Littleton

Looking for something for the wine lover in your life (which may very well be you)? One of Littleton’s newest shops is Main Street Wines, which carries many different wine varieties as well as wine-related gifts and accessories. Owner Deb Fitts and her team carefully curate an exciting wine selection to please all tastes.

Weldon Mills Distillery – located in Weldon

Weldon Mills Distillery isn’t a shop, but you can purchase bottles and memorabilia to take home. (Stay and savor a tipple or two while you’re at it.) What could be more unique than locally made spirits? Weldon Mills produces a variety of bourbons, including the Soldier’s Cut – a portion of the proceeds goes to Gold Star Families. They also produce gins, vodkas, and whiskeys, along with the bestselling Weldon Orchards Caramel Green Apple spirit that “tastes like a state fair in your mouth.” You can also purchase t-shirts.

 

Aunt Ruby’s Peanuts – located in Enfield

Looking for a gift to take home for the foodies in your life? Be sure to stop by the family-owned Aunt Ruby’s Peanuts in Enfield, which is operated by A&B Milling Company. You’ll find tasty gifts and souvenirs to take home, including several varieties of peanuts, other nuts, chocolates, and brittles. Their signature product is locally grown Virginia-style peanuts, which are meatier and lower in fat.

McDowell’s Pharmacy – located in Scotland Neck

Everyone has to visit a pharmacy when they travel to pick up sundries or replace a forgotten toothbrush. McDowell’s Pharmacy has been welcoming locals (and not so-local’s) since 1901. This fourth-generation pharmacy treats each customer like they are a part of their family. McDowell’s Pharmacy is a small-town pharmacy will a big heart.
